X Outage: Internal Malfunction or Coordinated Cyberattack?

The social media platform X, owned by entrepreneur Elon Musk, experienced a sudden and widespread outage yesterday that lasted for several hours. The incident sparked significant controversy and raised questions about the true cause of the disruption—particularly after some hacker groups claimed responsibility for the event.
The outage affected users around the world, with no immediate explanation provided by the company. During the downtime, technical teams worked intensively to restore service, while speculation swirled over whether the platform had suffered a cyberattack or a technical failure.
However, a report published by Wired, citing Besith Beach, spokesperson for the Hillsboro Fire & Rescue Department, introduced a surprising development that could be linked to the incident.
According to Beach, firefighters received an emergency call about a fire in Hillsboro’s tech district, which hosts the headquarters and data centers of several major companies, including X.
Upon arriving at the scene, emergency crews discovered that the fire had broken out in a room filled with a large number of batteries. The room was so full of thick smoke that visibility was severely limited. Firefighters worked for over six hours to extinguish the blaze and secure the area.
Despite the severity of the fire, the report noted that the flames did not spread to other sections of the building, including the data center linked to X. Nevertheless, the platform’s management has so far declined to comment publicly, stating only that an internal investigation is underway to determine the cause of the outage.
It is worth noting that the timing of the fire and the global service disruption has led to widespread speculation—especially in the absence of an official explanation—while some groups continue to claim responsibility without offering concrete evidence.
